Schneider Lifts Targets

Schneider Electric raised its 2026 revenue and profitability targets for a second time this year, as surging demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centres strengthened the French industrial group’s growth outlook.

The company’s shares initially rose around 1.4% on Friday, 16 October, helping support European industrial stocks. The pan-European STOXX 600 gained approximately 0.3% and remained on course for its strongest weekly performance since August.

Record Revenue, Stronger Outlook

Schneider reported third-quarter revenue of €11.46 billion, up 17.9% on a reported basis and 16.9% organically compared with the same period a year earlier. The result exceeded analysts’ expectations of approximately €11.13 billion.

The company now expects organic revenue growth of 12% to 14% for 2026, compared with its previous forecast of 10% to 13%. Its forecast for organic growth in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) has increased to 18%–21%, from 14%–19%.

AI Infrastructure Fuels Demand

Data centres remained a major growth engine, with Schneider reporting triple-digit demand growth in the segment during the quarter. The company supplies critical infrastructure for digital facilities, including electrical distribution, power management, cooling and automation systems.

The expansion of cloud computing and AI workloads is increasing the need for reliable electricity supply and efficient energy management. Large technology companies are investing heavily in computing capacity, creating opportunities for equipment suppliers able to support increasingly power-intensive facilities.

Schneider also reported healthy demand across its four end markets, contributing to another record order backlog at the end of the quarter. Management said customer demand provided improved visibility into business activity in 2027 and 2028.

Growth Comes With Execution Risks

The upgraded outlook reflects strong demand, but Schneider faces challenges from raw-material inflation, tariffs and supply-chain pressures. Pricing actions and productivity improvements will be important in protecting margins as costs evolve.

The company is also pursuing a major expansion of its software business, including its announced acquisition of engineering software group PTC for approximately $22.6 billion. The transaction adds strategic opportunities but also raises questions about financing, debt levels and the integration of a large acquisition.

Investors will therefore need to assess both operational growth and capital allocation as Schneider expands beyond its traditional electrical-equipment business.

What Investors Watch Next

Schneider’s latest guidance upgrade highlights the commercial impact of the global AI infrastructure build-out. Strong quarterly sales and rising demand support its growth outlook, while the record backlog offers a degree of visibility into future activity.

The central question is whether data-centre investment can remain strong enough to sustain current growth rates while Schneider manages acquisition costs and protects profitability. The company’s next results will provide further evidence of whether its higher targets remain achievable.
