Saxdor’s 460 GTS Opens Up

A New Flagship for Open Boating

Finnish boatbuilder Saxdor Yachts expanded its flagship range in July 2026 with the announcement of the Saxdor 460 GTS, an open-deck alternative to its enclosed 460 GTC. The new model was scheduled to make its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

The launch reflects a broader shift in premium recreational boating. Buyers increasingly want boats that combine high performance with generous outdoor living areas, flexible entertaining spaces and enough accommodation for longer weekends at sea.

Rather than creating an entirely separate platform, Saxdor developed the GTS around the existing 460 architecture. The approach gives the company another product for a different type of customer while retaining a common technical foundation.

Designed Around Outdoor Living

The main difference between the 460 GTS and the 460 GTC is how the deck is used. The GTC has an enclosed wheelhouse, while the GTS puts greater emphasis on open-air cruising and socialising.

Large folding side terraces extend the usable deck space when the yacht is at anchor, creating a wider platform for relaxing beside the water. The walkaround layout is designed to make movement between the bow, helm and stern easier, while the aft sunbed and flexible seating support different uses throughout the day.

The model can also be specified with sliding glass doors, an aft enclosure and a retractable roof. These options allow owners to add protection when conditions change without giving up the open character that defines the boat.

Performance Remains Central

The 460 GTS measures approximately 14.4 metres in length and 4.1 metres across the beam. Its twin-stepped V-shaped hull is designed to balance speed, stability and handling.

Saxdor lists engine options delivering between 900 and 1,275 horsepower, with a claimed top-speed range of 45–55 knots depending on configuration. The yacht can accommodate up to 15 people, positioning it as a high-capacity day boat that can also support overnight cruising.

These figures place the GTS in a competitive part of the market where buyers compare not only speed but also deck usability, engine configuration, build quality and the practicalities of operating a larger open boat.

Three Cabins Expand Its Role

Although the GTS is designed around outdoor living, the lower deck provides accommodation for up to three cabins, depending on configuration. The forward cabin includes a separate shower, while the aft cabin can have its own bathroom facilities.

This gives the boat a broader role than a conventional day cruiser. Owners can entertain guests during the day and still use the yacht for overnight stays or extended coastal trips.

The design reflects a commercial opportunity for builders: customers may want the atmosphere of an open sports boat but are increasingly reluctant to sacrifice comfort and practicality as they move into larger models.

A Modular Strategy for Growth

The shared 460 platform is important to Saxdor’s wider product strategy. Developing different layouts around a common technical base can reduce complexity compared with engineering entirely separate models.

It also allows the company to serve different preferences within the same size category. Buyers who prioritise weather protection can choose the GTC, while those seeking a more open environment can opt for the GTS.

Saxdor reported strong demand for its 460 family before the GTS’s public debut, with production capacity for the existing model sold out for the year. That points to early momentum, although the longer-term performance of the GTS will depend on deliveries, customer feedback and the wider market.

What Comes Next

The 460 GTS’s debut at Cannes gave Saxdor an opportunity to present its flagship range to international buyers, brokers and dealers at one of the most important European yacht shows.

The next commercial test is whether the open version can attract customers without simply shifting demand away from the GTC. Success would give Saxdor a broader offering in the premium day-boat segment and potentially increase the value generated from its shared platform.

For European boatbuilding, the model illustrates how manufacturers are moving towards larger, more versatile recreational boats. Performance remains important, but buyers are also paying for adaptable space, comfort and the experience of spending time on the water.
